about

The duo Ecker/VanHek works on integrating electronic generated sounds and musical input with acoustic sound and human decision taking.

They make miniature sound sculptures with the focus on real time treatment of sound and interaction / improvisation with composed cells.
For electronics this means playing with objects created in order to generate new material based on the given audio input, throwing back 'new' material to be played with -or not.

Forward motion is created as the music feeds itself.

The compositions and vocabulary are strongly influenced by composers such as Morton Feldman, Ligeti and Messiaen, though the electronic sounds could bring a different edge, beats reminiscent of Autechre, Alva Noto or Björk or spacious gracious sounds like sampled Gamelan instruments
